Granite Care

Granite Tends To Be Very Durable And Easy To Clean With Soap And Water

Siliceous Stone (Granite)
Granite tends to be very durable and easy to clean with soap and water. A mild acidic cleaning solution can be used on this surface to clean difficult spills but should not be used daily.

Routine Care Tips
We suggest using a neutral cleaning agent such as dishwashing liquid with water or purchasing a granite-specific cleaning product. That said, too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and/or streaks. To prevent this, especially on darker colors rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with soap and dry with a soft cloth. We also advise cleaning spills as soon as possible after they occur and advise against using any products such as wax-based or bleach-based. We offer various products made specifically to clean stone and maintain its sheen.

Difficult Spills Soak the area for at least 10 minutes with a mild household cleaner (such as 409) then rinse and clean away with a soft pad. For stains that harden as they dry, such as food and gum, remove them by gently scraping off the surface with a blade or putty remover and then clean using soap and warm water.

Avoid
Never use powdered cleansers or abrasive pads to clean your stone. Even “soft scrub” type cleaners contain pumice, which is powdered volcanic stone and might damage your stone countertops.

Sealing Your Stone Countertops
When we install your granite countertops we will seal them. After installation, it is recommended to seal your countertops regularly each year. We will provide guidance on how often this should be.

Quartz Care

Quartz Products (Engineered Stones) Are Manmade Products Manufactured With A Polished Finish

Routine Care
Dish soap or hand soap may be used for daily cleaning. Use a damp cloth, paper towel, or a sponge, and stay away from anything abrasive or harsh as it may scratch the surface.

Stubborn Spills
Quartz products resist permanent staining though we still recommend wiping all liquid spills as soon as possible. For stains such as hardened gum, food or grease remove by gently scraping away the excess with a plastic putty knife. Permanent inks will likely adhere to the surface and should be avoided but if a stain is present use Greased Lightning or a comparable product, let sit for at least 20 minutes, then wipe clean with a cotton cloth.

Rinse thoroughly.
Preventing heat and other damage

Quartz products are able to withstand normal heat exposure from hot pots, pans, and dishes without being damaged however to maintain its beauty we do not recommend placing hot skillets or roasting pans directly on the surface. As with any countertop surface, certain exposure to heat may cause cracks due to thermal shock, so we suggest taking the proper precautions. The use of a cutting board is strongly recommended.
